We held our Networking Nite in the 12th Floor Lounge of the Lowenstein Buidling at our Lincoln Center Campus in Midtown Manhattan.
Representing the non-profit sector was Ms. Maria Carmella Oliveros, Class of 2010, who just recently obtained a position with Education First as an analyst assessing various educational programs across the nation. About 15% of our alumni work in the non-profit sector. Joshua Post, Class of 2009, represented the private sector. He is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who works with Ernst & Young as a management consultant to various multinational corporations on transfer pricing issues. Approximately half of our alumni work in the private sector mostly in financial services or as management consultants. Finally, Matthew Pavone, Class of 2008, a Fulbright Scholar to Italy, represented the public sector. Matthew is a congressional staff member in the office of Representative Holt of the 12th US Congressional District in New Jersey. About a fourth of our alumni work in the public sector.
AWARDS
Professor Crystal, assisted by Ms. Ocasio, gave out our finanical awards. The Language Immersion Study Awards went to Shane ($4,900 to study Swahili in Kenya), Joshua ($5,400 to study French in southern France), Mayu-san ($4,900 to study French in Senegal), and Joseph ($4,400 to study Spanish in Bolivia). We also gave the Arrupe Placement Awards to Kari ($4,000 for a summer assignment with Trickle Up in Mali) and Whitney ($4,000 for a summer assignment with UNDP in Costa Rica).

The Public Service Field Placement Awards went ot Sarah ($4,000 for a summer assignment with USAID, pending) and Jonathan ($4,000 for a summer assignment with the US Embassy in El Salvador). We also acknowledged some of our summer intern fellows: Michael (UN Mission East Timor), Jed (US Embassy in Manila), Doug (US International Trade Administration in DC), Oliver (UNDP in East Africa), and Haolin (Bank of America in New York).

Several of our students have also been named Emerging Markets Travel Scholars. Ygal will be going to Israel, while Gonzalo, Joshua, Haolin, Drew, Matias, Lynne, Mayu-san, Angeliki and Patrick will be going to South Africa during the summer.
