We held our Annual Alumni Career Networking Nite in the 12th Floor Lounge of Fordham’s Lowenstein Hall in midtown Manhattan overlooking Lincoln Center. Our speakers were: Ms. Tatyana Klimova (IPED Class of ’05), Program Manager, Financial Services Volunteer Corps, New York; Ms.Jane Hingston (IPED Class of ’05), US Presidential Management Fellow, United States Agency for International Development, Washington, DC; and Ms. Bandele Adeyemi (IPED Class of ’02), Manager, Capital Markets Intelligence, Thomson Financial Corporate Services, New York. Ms. Adeyemi spoke about her career in New York’s financial services industry where approximately half of our alumni are employed. Ms. Hingston talked about US government careers based on her experience as a Presidential Management Fellow. About a fourth of our alumni work in the public sector. And Ms. Klimova spoke about the career opportunities that exist in the non-profit sector regarding the development of financial institutions in various emerging markets. About 15% of our alumni work in the non-profit sector.

AWARDS
Prof. Crystal awarded the Language Immersion Study Awards to Jeffrey ($5,000 to study Arabic in Egypt), Owen ($4,000 to study Portugues in Brazil), Chanda ($4,000 to study Spanish in Ecuador), and Kate ($5,000 to study French in Senegal). Prof. Mary Burke awarded the Arrupe Overseas Field Placement Stipends of $3,000 each to Adam (summer assignment with CARE in Peru) and Allison (summer assignment with Catholic Relief Services in Northeast Brazil) and the Public Service Field Placement Stipend ot $1,500 to William (summer assignment with the US State Department in Manila, Philippines). Finally, Dr. Crystal awarded the Leonard Marks Essay Awards in International Diplomcay to Jeffrey, Matthew, Allison, Adam, Angela, Betty, Kevin, and William.
