Alumni Career Networking Night ’03


The event was held at the 12th Floor Lounge of Fordham’s Lowenstein Hall in midtown Manhattan overlooking Lincoln Center. Our speakers were: Mr. Marc Wancer (IPED Class of ’98), Senior Associate, Financial Services, Non-Profit Finance Fund; Ms. Meg Gardinier-Lawder (IPED Class of ’83), Director, Non-Governmental Organizations, US Fund for UNICEF; and Mr. Joshua Gatmaitan (IPED Class of ’98), Senior Research Analyst, AIG Global Investment Corporation.

Awards
 
Professor Jonathan Crystal awarded the Language Immersion Study Awards to Ms. Lia Magnaguagno ($3,700 to study Portugues in Brazil) and to Ms. Kristine Molnar ($4,700 to study French in Paris). The Reverend Gerald Blaszczak, SJ, University Chaplain and Trustee, awarded the Arrupe Overseas Field Placement Stipends of $3,000 each to Mr. Matthew McGarry to evaluate and implement development initiatives with the Limpopo Development Enterprise in South Africa and to Mr. Joseph P. Kelly to study Portuguese and observe and evaluate micro-credit projects in Maceio, Brazil. We thank the Alumni Association for their generous support of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Eugene Diulio awarded The Professor Freidrich Baerwald Faculty Development Grant of $3,000 to Dr. Marybeth Combs who will be visiting the Zimbabwe Office of Catholic Relief Services to learn about the importance of gender issues in implementing various development initiatives. We thank the Academic Vice President’s Office for funding this faculty development grant.
